This module will review the reasons for focusing on talent and teach you how to develop talent internally. You will learn how to identify employees who achieve, exceed and greatly exceed expectations and those who demonstrate Vail Resorts’ core values.

Module 8: Develop Talent on Your Team, 3:15pm-4:45pm

Module 1: A Leader’s View at Vail Resorts 10:00am-12:00pm

This is the first module in the Leadership Essentials Program. After a brief introduction to the leader role, you will receive basic information on what to expect within your new position. This includes role responsibilities, operations, talent development, on boarding, finance, and other tasks. You will receive a brief summary of the learning objective and competencies communicated throughout Leadership Essentials, and then review the opportunities and expectations involved within the Leadership Essentials Program.

Module 2: DISC: Understand Your Leadership Style 1:00pm-4:30pm

This module emphasizes maximizing intrinsic leadership capabilities by leveraging the DISC model. By focusing on personal strengths and studying how you naturally manage conflict, you will find opportunities to improve your communication style and leadership style. Personal responsibility, language of leadership, personal values, and self-purpose are focuses of this module.

Module 3: Communicate as a Leader 1:00pm-2:30pm

As you enter the third module of the Leadership Essentials Program, you are armed with a synopsis of how leadership influences your team. Your base knowledge of expectations and individual opportunity areas will serve as a foundation for module three, which focuses on the standards of communication within Vail Resorts. This module covers concepts of organizational communication such as audience, messaging, mediums, and outcomes. A special emphasis is put on providing the “why,” or reasoning behind a message, when communicating.

Module 4: Manage Expectations on Your Team 2:45pm-4:15pm

As you enter the fourth module of the Leadership Essentials Program, you are acquainted with your roles, your capabilities, and your teams in general. The purpose of this module is to understand and then apply fundamental skills for achieving team results. You will be able to distinguish goals from expectations, set clear expectations, and hold staff accountable

Legends of Hospitality,

The Legends of Hospitality program is designed to help guest-facing employees understand the service expectations and their level of empowerment to solve problems for guests.  The program is tailored for those Hospitality employees who directly interact with guests, and the modules train participants on how to provide legendary hospitality, effectively deal with difficult guests, authentically commit to providing excellent service, and clearly understand quality, consistency and service standards within Vail Resorts Hospitality.

Mindfulness Meditation Seminar

Mindfulness is an age-old practice of present moment awareness that promotes inner calm, clear thinking and an awareness of choices.  This experiential learning will include an introduction to mindfulness and the practice of meditation.  Learning to meditate is not difficult, but beginning a meditation practice on your own can be challenging.  It is often useful to have some support and structure.  This class is open to all Beaver Creek & Vail employees, it is a personal development opportunity and thus is voluntary and taken on your own time.  The class will be taught by Caroline Sheahan who has been a practitioner of mindfulness meditation since 1999.

WITHDRAWING FROM A SESSION

If you are unable to attend a leadership workshop that you are registered for, please remember to withdraw yourself directly on your LIFT transcript 3 days prior to the workshop date. 

We book conference space for each of our sessions, and need to have accurate registration numbers in advance.

 

To withdraw yourself from a session:

  • Select “View Your Training” under the Training Tab on the LIFT Home Page. Find your session on your transcript, use the drop down arrow in the black box labeled “Options” to the right of the session, and select “Withdraw or Remove”

All classes will be held in the Avon Seasons Training Room 1st Floor (With the exception of Legends of Hospitality.  See above for locations)

Avon Season’s Building, 137 Benchmark Rd

 

Underground parking is best. You can buzz the attendant and let them know you’re here for a class. Once in the garage, you may park in any of the designated Vail Resorts spots.

 

Please don’t park in the Bob’s lot directly behind the training room, they are ticketing and booting cars.
